India may have lost the one day cricket match against South Africa, but fans at Wankhede Stadium created a record of sorts. On that day visitors at the cricket stadium consumed more data on a single day than what fans at NBA and NFL games in the US consume.
About 14,000 users accessed Internet using Reliance Jio's network at an average of nearly 160 MB per user. Overall about 2,000 GB data was consumed in Wankhede. Reliance Jio is set to launch its services next year and had offered the Wi-Fi coverage in the stadium on a pilot basis.
This match blew away records set by NBA or NFL game that had previously taken place. NBA fan uploads on WiFi is 39MB per user and NFL fan uploads is 28 MB. Average time NBA fans spend on WiFi is 49 minutes compared to NFL fans who spend 63 minutes on WiFi. NBA Fans download stands at 22 MB with NFL downloads at 17 MB.
