Digital imaging and printing solutions major Epson will soon launch its range of copier machines.

Toshiyuki Kasai, President, Epson India, who was here to launch the brand’s first ‘experience zone’ in the city, said the company has developed a “technically superior copier machines, which will also be cost-effective”.

Epson has a range of products in categories such as inkjet printers, point-of-sale machines, scanners, photo printers and projectors – for both home and commercial applications. With ₹1,000-crore turnover last year, the India business accounts for a small percentage of Epson’s $9-billion global turnover. “However, we have been growing at 25 per cent year-on-year, which makes India a key focus market for us,” he added.

According to Kasai, laser printer is the biggest category in India compared with inkjet printers. Though Epson commands 20 per cent share of inkjet and over 50 per cent share of dot matrix printers market in India, it has no play in the laser category.

“We strongly believe, inkjet is way better than laser printers, and hence the demand for inkjet will soon outgrow that for laser printers,” he explained.

The experience zone in Chennai is its 13{+t}{+h} in the country. It proposes to set up similar experience zones in all major cities.
