Facebook launched a feature called 'Find Friends Nearby' and then removed it.
Technology media company TechCrunch reported that the service was launched on Sunday and disappeared on Monday, apparently over concerns of privacy.
Facebook has been getting more aggressive on mobiles and its founder, Mr Mark Zuckerberg, mentioned recently that mobile phones were an important growth area for the company.
The feature mentioned above would enable users to use their mobiles to find out if any of their friends are nearby.
