Facebook will launch three more innovation hubs in India by 2019 to nurture Indian start-ups in the emerging technology space.
The social media major has already set up an innovation hub in Hyderabad in partnership with T-Hub. The company is now looking for tie-ups in New Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru to set up innovation hubs in these cities.
Speaking at the first Facebook Startup Day here on Tuesday, Satyajeet Singh, Head - Strategic Product Partnerships, India & South Asia, said under the School of Innovation India from Facebook programme in partnership with SV.CO (Startup Village Collective), the company looks to spread awareness and incubate students.
It will conduct workshops on Virtual Reality (VR), which is the focus area, across 30 universities covering 5,000 students. It has incubated 10 student teams from colleges, who will undergo VR product training and build a VR product prototype.
