NIIT, an IT training company, targets to train 12,000 people through GNIIT, its new brand that reaches out to students through cloud computing in 2011-12. Using this service, people could login into class rooms or computer laboratories while sipping coffee in a hotel or sitting in a park.
“We have launched early June and have roped in 1,000 already. We are going to continue this run in the next 12 months,” Mr Surojit Biswas, Vice-President of NIIT, said.
Addressing a press conference here on Saturday after launching the initiative in the South here, he said the company charged Rs 1.75 lakh for the three-year course. GNIIT allowed students in 36 equated monthly instalments.
On joining NIIT Cloud Campus, students could join virtual classrooms, laboratories, break-out sessions and library through out the day. To facilitate this learning, GNIIT offered students virtual private network (VPN) with a very high bandwidth.
“It also offers a virtual avenue to seek placements. Companies could interact with students and pick them,” he said.
Mr Vishwanathan Anand, the chess champion associated with NIIT-supported school chess network programme, said the 24-hour learning option would help the students learn whenever they wanted to.
