IT hardware firm HCL Infosystems on Monday said it has bagged Rs 250-crore order from the public sector telephone service provider Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL).

The IT company will be responsible for deploying a modern facility for printing and managing BSNL customer bills and to upgrade the existing systems for higher efficiency, HCL Infosystems said in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE).

“In the rapidly emerging space of telecom, we have developed a host of system integration solutions and this project win from BSNL only speaks for our understanding and expertise,” HCL Infosystems President and Chief Operating Officer, Mr J.V. Ramamurthy, said.

The company will manage the BSNL’s billing system process for North Zone and West Zone for a period of seven years, the filing added.

The project aims to completely transform and automate BSNL’s bill printing mechanism so as to add greater efficiency in reaching out to its subscribers, it said.

Shares of HCL Infosystems were trading at Rs 109.35 a piece, up 3.16 per cent from the previous close in the afternoon trade on the BSE.
