Telecom company Idea Cellular and value added service provider handygo have jointly announced the launch of an interactive voice response-based solution, which aims to provide day-to-day information to rural masses.

The interactive voice response (IVR)-based service ‘Behtar Zindagi’ has been launched in Maharashtra, Goa, Gujarat, UP West and Andhra Pradesh.

Under the service, Idea subscribers will be able to access information regarding health, education, finance, weather updates, mandi rates, livestocks, agriculture and fisheries. Subscribers will pay Re 1 per minute for the service.

“We envisage great potential in the untapped rural market and are bullish about the stupendous feedback from the end consumers,” the handygo CEO, Mr Praveen Rajpal, said in a statement.

Idea has also announced subscription packs for this service. Subscription packs are available in denomination of Rs 30 for 90 minutes, Rs 15 for 45 minutes, Rs seven for 21 minutes and Rs two for six minutes. These packs will have validity of 30, 15, seven and a day, respectively.

The service is available in all the respective states in regional languages along with Hindi and English.

For updates, handygo has partnered with various organisations such as Care India, Aviva Life Insurance and the Indian Metrological Department, to name a few.

“We are happy to partner with handygo to offer relevant and affordable services to our rural subscribers in the circle,” the Idea Cellular Chief Operating Officer (Maharashtra and Goa), Mr Rajendra Chourasia, said.
