Intel Corporation on Tuesday announced a slew of products, including the next generation PC (desktop) and mobile processors.

This apart, it will also focus on increased profitability from the tablet PC business, according to Kirk Skaugen, Senior Vice-President and General Manager of Client Computing Group, Intel.

“We should grow in the tablets (PC) segment with a focus on profitability,” Skaugen told mediapersons at Computex 2015. (Computex is an annual ICT conference.)

According to sources, Intel — which is playing catch up in the tablet segment — has invested heavily in it last year. This year, its focus would be on profitability.

“It’s not that we have lost our girlfriends....” he said in response to a question on the company's focus on mobile devices, including tablets.

New processors Skaugen also announced the augmentation of the 5th generation “Intel Core” processor. The augmentation will include better graphics (on the desktop processor). Five new desktop models were announced.

Apart from desktop, the processors will give a boost to active gamers and creators on the mobile segment. According to sources in Intel, the processors have been made available with original equipment makers (OEMs).

The other announcement was the launch of “Intel Xeon Processors”.

Offerings for IoT Apart from these, Skaugen also announced a variety of offerings customised for the “Internet of Things” (IoT).

Some of the focus areas in the coming days would be introduction of offerings for a wire-free office; making interactions between computers and user simpler; removing usage of multiple passwords and so on.

Interestingly, Intel also displayed a prototype for wireless charging systems — where the table (for example) can be used to charge multiple devices such as laptop, tablet, mobile and wearable simultaneously. This charging, Skagen said, will be done without boring in holes for wires.
