Steve Wozniak was first in the queue to grab the iPhone 4S. Steve was not just another guy waiting to get hold of the phone. He was the co-founder of Apple.

Why should he stand in the queue? The reason was evident today. iPhone 4S was sold out almost everywhere. Eager fans had to return back disappointed.

“Due to the popularity of iPhone 4S, we’ve sold out today. We receive new shipments regularly. Please see a Specialist for more details,” said the board at the Regent Street store in London. Below the announcement was a picture -- a couple of gleaming iPhone 4S. All the eager, but now disappointed apple affectionados could do was to longingly look at the pictures and go back home.

In the US, many carriers reported that pre-orders for the iPhone 4S were sold out. After the launch, Sprint,said it was the "best day ever of sales" on Friday. Reports say as many as 4 million units are expected to be sold this weekend.

Not many thought the phone will generate such an excitement after Apple, which was expected to launch iPhone 5, came out with iPhone 4S. Many thought Apple had made a mistake. Now it turns out, it was not a mistake.

There were many in Twitter who said they couldn’t believe the craze. And several of them were Android fans who couldn’t understand why iPhones were generating such an excitement.

The iPhone 4S has several features including Siri, a voice-based ‘digital assistant’, a dual core A5 chip and a 8 MP camera that also shoots 1080p HD video.

The race between Apple and Google is set to hot up as the next version of the Android phone with Google experience - Nexus Prime - and also the next version of the Android OS - Ice Cream Sandwich or just Android 4 on October 19.
