The National Association of Software and Services Companies (Nasscom) has launched a Leadership Resource Centre (LRC), a repository of information to improve technology adoption among small and medium enterprises.

The IT industry’s apex body has tied up with IIM-Bangalore, which will provide the content and custom built leadership development programmes.

“The year 2017 will be the year of disruption and innovation, and it is now more important than ever that the industry gets leaders who can openly take on challenges, build and uphold the momentum that is taking us forward,” said CP Gurnani, Chairman of Nasscom.

“With initiatives such as these, Nasscom continues its efforts towards building the future leaders of the industry,” Gurnani, also CEO and the Managing Director of fifth-largest IT firm Tech Mahindra, said.

Online platform

LRC, an online collaboration platform, will enable aspiring leaders to collaborate with industry leaders, learn from experience sharing and co-created conversations.

Over the years, the initiative will be extended to large corporates and will eventually become the ‘Nasscom Leadership Academy’.

A number of IT companies have volunteered to provide their physical infrastructure free-of-cost to the initiative. The service will focus on all segments of Indian IT companies and non-Nasscom members will also be able to leverage the services.

“The next generation of leaders will face a different set of challenges, unique only to the digital era. To ensure these next generation leaders realise their potential and are manage to steer the industry in the new digital regime, Nasscom has come up with this initiative,” Nasscom President R Chandrashekhar said.

Through such initiatives Nasscom aims to champion for the cause of re-defining skilling for the IT industry and help companies improve their overall competitiveness.
