Multinational IT services provider Atos on Wednesday announced opening of its new centre in Vadodara, which will employ about 300 IT professionals initially.

The European firm, which has presence in 66 countries, looks to recruit about 1,000 IT professional in a year’s time at the facility, its second in India after Pune.

A facility in the Western part of India will benefit the company in exploring business prospects in the region.

Long-term strategy The new office was inaugurated by Peter Pluim, who is the Senior Vice-President and COO Global Operations – Atos Managed Services, Atos Group.

“Our presence in Vadodara makes a good business proposition for us. This is a part of our long-term strategy for Indian market. We are seeing double-digit growth from Asia and India. And we expect revenue from India to grow exponentially in the next five years,” said Pluim. Currently, 25 per cent of the revenues come from the local market. The company focuses on establishing India as one of the key global delivery centres for the Atos Group and its clients worldwide.

“We decided to come to Vadodara because of the good infrastructure, well renowned education institutions, rich talent pool and good connectivity to Mumbai and Pune,” added Pluim.

Offshore office India is a prominent offshore centre for Managed Services (MS) in Atos, while the company will serve the Indian arms of its global clients and directly global clients from the Vadodara facility.
