The IT Professionals Welfare Association (ITPWA) has demanded an immediate halt to the retrenchment process in Snapdeal.
In a statement released here on Tuesday, Baljeet Poonia, a founding member of ITPWA, has asked the employees of Snapdeal to approach the organisation if they faced retrenchment threat.
“The retrenchment threat is the reflection of the crisis in the information technology industry. The employees are bearing the brunt of every crisis in the industry, and they pay for the choices and decisions made by owners,” he said.
He said Snapdeal had retrenched about 600 employees early this year and felt that the number could grow.
Govt intervention“These repeated instances (of job losses in the industry) call for greater governmental intervention and regulation of an industry that has benefited from a variety of subsidies from various public agencies over the years.”
