ASUS has launched the WL-330N3G router, “for travellers and business people who wish to extend their Internet access when on the road,” says the company. It works as six different devices rolled into one, it says. First, it is a mobile wireless router, connecting devices such as notebooks and smartphones to one broadband Internet service. Second, it can be used as a universal repeater in conjunction with other routers to extend the range of an existing connection. Third, it also functions as an access point when combined with a broadband modem, enabling connectivity for a host of devices. It can also be deployed as an Ethernet adapter for Ethernet-capable devices such as game consoles, printers and cable set-top boxes. It also has both hotspot and 3G sharing modes built in, adds ASUS. The router is priced at an MRP of Rs 4,500 (excluding taxes).

Faster hook-up
