The Ma Foi Foundation, a CSR division of Ma Foi Group, in association with Tech Mahindra Foundation has launched a Smart Skill Development Centre in Avadi, Chennai, to offer job-ready skill training to the youth.
The training programme comes with a promise of job placements in the BFSI (banking, financial services and insurance) sector.
The smart centre, which was inaugurated on Tuesday by RM Meenakshi Sundaram, President – Corporate Banking, Lakshmi Vilas Bank, and K Pandia Rajan, MLA from Avadi Constituency and Founder, Ma Foi Group, will provide two-month training in basic computing, basic communication, workplace readiness and domain knowledge.
“There is a huge mismatch between jobs and skills in the industry. This initiative is aimed at addressing such skill gaps,” said Latha Pandiarajan, Managing Trustee, The Ma Foi Foundation.
The centre plans to train about 25 graduates, including some engineering graduates, in the first batch and has set a target to train about 150 people in the next 12 months.
The foundations are talking to several companies in the BFSI sector for job placements for the trained youth. “We have promised 100 per cent placements for the first batch,” Pandiarajan said.
Karthi Chandramouli, Vice-President and Global Practice Head – Location Council, Tech Mahindra, said their foundation was setting up such smart skill training centres across the country. “We have set up more than 100 centres for skill development. Our objective is to train about 2.5 lakh youth through these centres,” he said.
