The Asus ROG Phone 2 is back in stock in India after months of unavailability due to the coronavirus outbreak.

The phone will go on sale in India later today with updated pricing for its base 8GB+128 GB variant. The price of the variant has been increased to ₹ 39,999 from ₹ 37,999 mainly due to an increased GST rate, the brand said.

“Starting April 1, 2020, the Centre increased the GST on smartphones from 12% to 18%. Additionally, the Indian rupee has depreciated significantly. These two changes have had a direct proportionate impact on the cost of smartphones,” ASUS said in an official press release.

“The price of ROG Phone II with new GST and depreciated rate impact would have been ₹ 42,554 (approximately 12% higher), but as a special gesture for the ROG Fans, ASUS is revising the price of ROG Phone II to ₹ 39,999,” it said giving a breakdown of the increased price.

The gaming phone was launched in India back in September. The phone is meant for gaming enthusiasts. It has a massive 6.59-inch display with 1080x2340 pixels display. It has refresh rates of 60 fps.

It is powered by a 2.6GHz processor -- the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Plus Mobile Platform with 7nm, 64-bit Octa-core Processor.

Gaming-focused features of the phone include an upgraded ultrasonic Air Triggers 2 and stereo speakers with DTS:X Ultra support.

The phone will go on sale on e-commerce platform Flipkart from today.
