As it gears up for Friday release of its Passport phone, BlackBerry is looking at the niche segment of professional users.

It is targeting professionals such as doctors, lawyers and corporate executives with the new model that is priced at ₹49,990.

Coming out in a quite unconventional size, the phone is equipped with several productive applications that can make life easier for professionals, a senior executive of the Canadian phone-maker has said.

Addressing a press conference here, Annie Mathew, Director (Alliances and Business Development) of BlackBerry, said the device offered better reading experience.

The company, which is taking pre-orders on Amazon website from September 29, will start retail sales from tomorrow (October 10). She said the company would work with the State Governments that were proactively encouraging starting ecosystem to grow.
