Consumer durables and electronics major Panasonic hopes to expand its market share of tablets for mid-size businesses to 60-65 per cent, from about 50 per cent now.
The market of commercial tablets, pegged at ₹120-crore, is growing close to 30 per cent year on year, said Toru Hasegawa, Divisional Managing Director, Solutions Division, Panasonic India at the launch of Toughpad FZ-B2, an Android tablet.
In the US, restaurant chains, logistics service providers and retailers account for a big chunk of Panasonic’s business.
“Right now, India accounts for a small portion of our global market. But with the business environment here getting better by the day, we hope to grow at a faster clip,” he said. The Toughpad FZ-B2 is meant for a range of businesses including automobile, manufacturing, telecom and logistics. Featuring a quick-charging replaceable full-shift battery, this product is priced at ₹75,000. It has 7-inch multi-touch display, quad-core Intel Celeron processor, and comes with configurability options.
Besides, it is made to be fully rugged with features such as water, dust and drop-shock resistance and long battery life, “which we believe will make it an ideal tool for field service professionals”, he added.
Panasonic also offers business solution products such as high-definition videoconferencing, audio-video products, broadcast cameras, projectors and displays, printers, energy storage, surveillance and other security solutions.
