The Department of IT plans to introduce a new incentive scheme for STPI registered units.
The incentive scheme will look at options of reimbursing payments back to the industry, Mr Omkar Rai, Director-General, Software Technology Parks of India (STPI), said here on Wednesday.
The scheme will also ensure the spread of STPI scheme in Tier II and Tier III towns in the country.
According to Mr Rai, the new incentive scheme will be introduced to compensate the withdrawal of tax benefits under Sections 10 (A) and 10 (B) from April 1, 2011.
Following the withdrawal of tax benefits, STPI registered units have come under the Minimum Alternative Tax (MAT) purview.
Deloitte Touche has been appointed as consultants for the project. A report in this regard is expected to come up within three months.
