A mapping policy so that all the roads of India can be properly mapped and introduction of e-hospitals were some of the suggestions that chief executives in various companies of IT and telecom sectors made to the Union IT Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad here on Thursday.

These suggestions came at a meeting convened by the IT Ministry to discuss strategies and roadmap for taking India’s digital economy to $1 trillion by 2025.

“If we can have we have e-markets, e-schools why can’t we have bedless hospitals,” said the Minister. Adding, all the suggestions would be ready by January 15.

“I am happy that the idea and initiative that we came up with to take the digital economy to a trillion-dollar economy is going in the right direction,” he said.

Emphasising on the gender gap between the internet users, Prasad said he is also going to replicate the Internet Saathi, where they empower women in rural areas to become digitally literate. He said: “To promote digital economy, we need to have a model RFP and by January the model RFP will be ready.”

Industry was represented at the meeting by R Chandrasekhar, NasscomPresident, Rajan Anandan, Google India Managing Director, Rajendra Pawar, Chairman of NIIT and Mathew Oomen,President, Reliance Jio. Telecom Secretary Aruna Sundarajan, Defence Secretary Ajay Kumar and IT Secretary Ajay Prakash Sawhney were also present at the meeting.
