A day after launching its app-based POS (point-of-sale) for businesses, leading mobile commerce player Paytm has rolled back the service temporarily.
The Alibaba-backed company, in a blog on its website, said: “Post our launch, we have had several discussions with stakeholders on how we can make this process even more secure.
“Based on some suggestions from the industry, we have decided to add additional certifications and features before making it available to merchants. We will re-launch this product as soon as we have updated the product.”
The Noida-based mobile payments firm also said that it is committed to protecting its customers’ data and privacy and would soon re-launch the service with added layers of security. The service was launched as a feature on Paytm’s Seller app, allowing a merchant to accept payments over a mobile phone in the absence of a physical card swiping machine.
