The Centre on Monday launched a digital platform to help improve the market function of vocational training delivery in India.

Launching the portal, https://ncvtmis.dget.in, Labour Minister Bandaru Dattatreya said that the Centre was taking all possible steps to prepare one crore youth for employment in the 12th Plan.

The portal, developed by the Directorate General of Employment & Training, has Wipro Infotech Ltd as the implementation agency and the National Institute for Smart Government as a consultant.

Raising transparency

The platform is in line with the Prime Minister’s Skill India and Digital India mission and aims to increase transparency and reduce leakages and corruption with the use of technology.

Dattatreya also gave away the first set of 1.6 lakh e-certificates generated from the portal for candidates who had completed training from various Industrial Training Institutes in the past, but were awaiting certification by the National Council of Vocational Training due to a huge backlog of data transmission from States.

This digital initiative will not only cut waiting time from years to days for apprentices to get certificates, but will also enable employers to cross-check genuine candidates, the Ministry said.
