Ratan Tata, Chairman Emeritus of Tata Sons, has made a strategic investment in Sabse Technologies Inc, a US-based wi-fi first mobile virtual network operator. Headed by Hotmail co-founder Sabeer Bhatia, the company also operates Sabsebolo, a communications cloud platform for SMEs in India.

Ratan Tata’s investment signifies a major endorsement of Sabse as an emerging force in the telecom industry, said the company in a statement.

“Ratan Tata is a visionary businessman and global thought leader, and we are absolutely delighted to have his guidance as we secure Sabse’s position as a leading telecom carrier,” said Bhatia in the statement.

Sabse President Yogesh Patel observed that Ratan Tata possesses extensive experience in the telecom industry.

“His expertise and insight will be immensely helpful as Sabse expands its wi-fi first cellular service to consumers worldwide,” he added.

The company said it has pioneered a cloud telephony, video conferencing and desktop sharing platform for the SME market.
