Reliance Jio is setting up a distribution and service network that will help it reach consumers across the country. At the launch, the company will have five lakh connectivity outlets and 10 lakh additional recharge outlets.

Under its strategy to ensure device availability, RJio will have both open market devices and self branded devices, and will also set up direct physical presence with about 1,000 ‘Jio Centres’.

The company’s retail arm Reliance Digital would function as a catalyst by making available entry level to ultra premium 4G LTE smartphones, tablets and other devices. The company will utilise Reliance Retail to make handsets ubiquitously available across retail, wholesale and standalone stores and online.

Readying to launch services by year-end, RJio is setting up data centres across three locations in the country with a total capacity of 0.65 million square feet. The data centres would be operational by the time of the company’s 4G launch slated for December.

Further, the wireless arm of Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL) will expand the data centre capacity to additional 1.5 million sq ft in the next three years, according to earnings presentations uploaded on RIL’s website.

The exact locations of the data centres were not mentioned.

RJio would have Voice over LTE (VoLTE) as default features in all 4G smartphones.

RJio is also engaging with about 28 brands such as Apple, Samsung, Micromax to Haier among others.

In addition to LTE smartphones, Jio also working with original equipment manufacturers for pocket router solution which can connect any 2G or 3G smartphone to 4G networks.
