Mukesh Ambani’s RJio on Thursday launched its optical fibre broadband services starting at ₹699 per month for an 100 Mpbs connection bundled with 100 GB of data.

High-end consumers can get up to 500 GB of data at 1 Gbps speeds by paying ₹8,499 a month. There is a one-time upfront fee of ₹2,500, of which ₹1,000 is non-refundable.

Bundled services

Though the tariffs per se are not the cheapest in the country, RJio is bundling a whole host of services with the broadband connection. Every user gets a fixed line phone which can be used to make free voice calls to anywhere within the country. Also available for free are video-conferencing facilities on TV and gaming and security services. Tariff plans above ₹3,999 offer access to virtual reality experiences. High-end users also get to watch movies on the same day they are released in theatres.

As an introductory offer, RJio is giving away its 4K set-top box worth ₹6,400 and Jio Home Gateway worth ₹5,000 bundled with all tariff plans. It has also bundled three-month subscriptions of OTT platforms with each connection though it is not clear which applications will be made available.

RJio is also offering annualised plans starting at ₹8,388 for 100 Mbps speed with 1,200 GB for 12 months. The top-end annual plan is priced at over ₹1 lakh, which offers 1 Gpbs speed and 60,000 GB data. This plan comes with a 4K 43-inch TV worth nearly ₹45,000.
