Samsung India Electronics on Tuesday launched Galaxy On series of smartphones -- On5 and On7 -- priced at ₹8,990 and ₹10,990, respectively. The two devices will be sold exclusively through Flipkart.

Manufactured in India, the new 4G enabled smartphones have unique built in features like ultra data saving (UDS) mode and 4G download booster, which would also increase the battery life by 2X (standby), the company said. Going forward, the company would provide such features as a standard in most of its devices, it said.

“We will give UDS as standard in mass segment devices which increases the standby time by 2X,” Manu Sharma, Director-Product Marketing, Samsung India Electronics said.

He said with products like these, the company would grow its market share in future. As of September, Samsung had a market share of 49 per cent in the mid segment (₹10,000-₹20,000). With 3,000 mAh in On7 and 2,600 mAh in On5 batteries, users can be assured of long lasting 4G Internet usages of up to 12 hours (On7) and up to 11 hours (On5), he said.

While the On7 has 5.5-inch screen with 13MP rear camera, the On5 has 5-inch screen with 8MP rear camera. Both the dual SIM handsets have 5MP front cameras and memory expansion up to 128 GB, with 8GB ROM and 1.5GB RAM, the company said.
