Small and medium sized industries in Tamil Nadu will now be able to use cloud computing at an affordable cost to scale up their businesses.

This follows a tie-up between the Tamil Nadu Small and Tiny Industries Association (TANSTIA) and Microsoft, which offered Cloud-enabled software such as Office 365, Dynamic CRM Online and Azure at an affordable price. This will enable businesses to communicate efficiently with suppliers, distributors, government agencies and embrace global trends, to become competitive players.

CK Mohan, Vice-President,TANSTIA an apex industry body, said it will partner with Microsoft to empower 10,000 small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) in the State using cloud technology by mid 2016.

“While bigger companies can afford to invest money in technology to improve their efficiency, investment is difficult for smaller players due to lack of funding and awareness. The initiative to join hands with Microsoft is to overcome that impediment,” Mohan explained.

He said that the invitation to join the project has been extended to all its members. “TANSTIA has been conducting regular awareness programmes in various districts in Tamil Nadu regarding the same,” he added.

Prashanth S, Executive Director, Quadrasystems.net India Private Limited, Microsoft’s Cloud Accelerate Partner, said that Tamil Nadu, is the third largest in terms of industrial output with a large talent pool for beginning SMEs. This technology will enhance their competitiveness.

Meetul Patel, General Manager – SMS&P, Microsoft India said that it has been involved in educating people and has partnered with device manufacturers like Nokia to make technology more accessible and affordable.
