Bitten by the social media bug, Mumbai-headquarted IT training institute Jetking Infotrain is launching a social media course. With a fee of ₹999, the course aims to bridge digital divide by imparting knowledge on the social media world.

The course will be first introduced at Jetking’s Mumbai centre by the last week of July. Following which, the institute will look at expanding it to its 100 centres across the country, Avinash Bharwani, Vice-President (New Business), Jetking Infotrain, told BusinessLine .

“The social media programme will enable people to create digital identities that are critical to engage and grow their audience. The course will also teach users to create text and video content,” Bharwani added.

The one-week-long course, which is open to all, aims to familiarise pupils with Gmail, Google Drive, LinkedIn, Quora, YouTube, video editing, vlogging and social media for business (including Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp and LinkedIn marketing).

SMAC courses

From July 1, Jetking will also start courses to train Digital Marketing Experts, Big Data Developers, Cloud-Computing Engineers and Jetking-certified Hardware and Networking Engineers, among others. The fees for these courses start from ₹40,000.

“Today, technology is moving and converging towards Social, Mobile, Analytics and Cloud (SMAC). Most of the tech adaptation is happening in start-ups as it is difficult for larger companies to mobilise,” he added.

Jetking, which till recently was a hardware and networking trainer, is also launching an entrepreneurship programme for micro entrepreneurs. This is for people who want to eke out a living — getting jobs and self employment being the focus — “rather than looking at becoming billionaires”.

The programme is being launched in association with Gujarat-based Entrepreneurship Development Institute Of India (EDII). It will be launched on July 1, with course fee ranging ₹1-4 lakh.

It is aimed at first- and second-generation entrepreneurs especially from the technology field, while aspiring entrepreneurs from non-tech fields can also join. The duration of the course will vary from three months to two years.

The BSE-listed company has trained 7 lakh students so far and plans to triple it by 2020. Its business partners include Microsoft, Cisco and IBM.
