TV manufacturer Super Plastronics Pvt Ltd (SPPL) is eyeing revenues of about ₹500 crore from its Thomson TVs business in the next 2-3 years.
The company, which is the exclusive licensee of the French brand, on Thursday launched a 40-inch 4K Smart TV priced at ₹ 20,999. This will be the brand’s fourth smart TV launch in the past year.
CEO Avneet Singh Marwah said: “4K is the future and already contributes 22 per cent to the online TV sales in the country and about 10-12 per cent to the overall TV sales.”
“We felt that there was a gap in the 4K TV offerings in the market. Hence, we decided to launch a 4K TV in 40-inch size at an affordable price. This will encourage consumers to upgrade from FHD to 4K. It will be a complete game-changer,” Marwah added.
The company is bullish on the 4K segment as content-makers across the world are stepping on the gas to produce in this format.
SPPL, which sells the brand exclusively on Flipkart, said it will continue to focus on the e-commerce channel for some time. “We are satisfied with our online distribution strategy and have been growing at an average 35 per cent quarter-on-quarter,” Marwah added.
Besides strengthening the 4K TV portfolio, the company is looking to launch Thomson-branded TV speakers later this year.
