Swiggy, which has built a large fleet of 1.25 lakh active food delivery partners spread across 100-plus cities in India through its ‘Swiggy Smiles’ initiative, has helped the partners get a host of benefits, ranging from on-call doctors to facilitating education loans at fair interest rates.

Under Swiggy Smiles, delivery partners were allowed to collect or earn reward points. In the first year of operations, a total of 55,000 delivery partners have leveraged the benefits, and have earned rewards worth Rs 14 crore.

Swiggy Smiles has provided an array of additional benefits to the delivery partners, aimed at their physical well-being, safety, comfort and education. With life insurance, accident and medical insurance, along with on-call doctors for the delivery partners and their families, the programme has also helped the partners deal with medical emergencies, without having to worry about the financial implications.

“As the pioneer in investing in a dedicated delivery fleet since the start of our journey, Swiggy engages with the largest last mile-delivery fleet in the country. By doing this, it has puts us in a position of advantage,” said Sachin Kotangale, Vice-President, Operations, Swiggy. “Delivering millions of orders each month, we have always believed that our delivery partners are the backbone of Swiggy. Swiggy Smiles is a concrete step in our long-term vision to create a marketplace that will provide them best-in-class benefits.”

The food delivery company recently tied up with Bank of Baroda to facilitate easy access to bike loans for its delivery partners. Swiggy provided bank details such as credit history and earning capacity of its delivery partners, helping them secure bike loans at competent rates.

Separately, over the past year, Swiggy has also helped its delivery partners secure personal loans worth more than Rs 3.7 crore.
