The country’s fifth largest IT services firm Tech Mahindra's second quarter profit increased 16.2 per cent sequentially driven mainly by rise in other income.

The Mumbai-based company’s consolidated net profit grew 16.2 per cent sequentially to ₹786 crore in the quarter ended September 30. In dollar terms, the net profit stood at $119.3 million and revenues were $1.01 billion in the period under review.

Revenue up 5%

Revenue in the second quarter was ₹6,616 crore, up 5.1 per cent from the previous quarter and 20.5 per cent from a year ago. Its other income grew 21 per cent to ₹1,658 crore.

Tech Mahindra added 1,562 professionals during the quarter to take the total headcount to 1,05,235. Of these, 71,657 people were with the software business, while 26,513 were in BPO operations.

The company's active client count stood at 788 in the second quarter of this fiscal compared to 770 in the preceding quarter.

“Greater emphasis on strengthening our core through embracing Automation, Specialisation, Digital and Delivery Excellence will remain our core focus,” CP Gurnani, Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer, Tech Mahindra said.
