Vedantu, a Bangalore-based start-up in the education space has raised $5 million in Series A funding from Accel Partners andd Tiger Global Management.
The startup provides private tutoring services from class 6-12 and also IIT Foundation preparation courses for exams like NTSE, PSA, KVPY, IMO & JEE Mains. Vedantu's focus is on live online one-on-one tutoring which the company claims is its key differentiator from other traditional online education sites that focus on recorded content and tests.
The tutoring at Vedantu is a complete live personalised interaction between a student and a teacher using their custom built whiteboard, audio and video technology, company officials added.
"We see huge potential for personalised online live tutoring in India and are impressed with the founders' domain expertise in education combined with strong technology skills,," said Anand Daniel, Partner, Accel Partners.
"We remove the hassle of having to go long distances for tuitions, a transparent manner of testing students and provide the ability for parents to assess the teachers who will coach their children," said CEO & Co Founder, Vamsi Krishna.
