Walmart India on Monday said that it has elevated Sameer Aggarwal to the position of Chief Business Officer, as part of the key leadership changes being made at the company.

Aggarwal, who joined Walmart India in April as the Chief Strategy & Administrative Officer, will now in his expanded role. lead strategy, merchandising, e-commerce, technology, and marketing, the company added. He will continue to report to Krish Iyer, President & CEO, Walmart India. This appointment was made after Devendra Chawla, EVP & Chief Operating Officer - Merchandising, Marketing, and eCommerce at Walmart India, decided to put in his papers and move on to pursue other opportunities outside the company.

The company has also roped in former Nestle executive Anuj Singh as Head-Category Merchandising and will lead private brands development along with category merchandising and its planning and execution. He will report to Aggarwal.

In a statement, Krish Iyer, President & CEO, Walmart India, said that the experience of Aggarwal and Singh will help the company grow further. “We recently opened our 23rd Best Price Store and the second Fulfilment Centre in the country and are excited at the opportunity of continuing to create shared value for kiranas, resellers, small businesses, small farmers, associates, and the community at large,” he added.
