Instant messaging platform WhatsApp on Wednesday added a new feature with which users can control who can add them to WhatsApp groups.
The feature can be activated by going to 'Settings' in the app and accessing the 'Accounts' section. Users can then select 'Privacy' and go to 'Groups'. From there, one of the three options 'Nobody', 'My Contacts' or 'Everybody' can be chosen.
If 'Nobody' is selected, users will have to approve every group invite request. If users choose that only their contacts can add them to groups, the person inviting the user will need to send an invite using a private chat window, which will expire in three days.
