Wipro has completed ten years since it begun operations in the Middle East.

Wipro, which commenced operations in the UAE and Saudi Arabia in 2001, today has a presence spread across Sharjah, Abu Dhabi, Kuwait, Qatar, Al Kobar, Riyadh, Jeddah and Bahrain.

“Middle East has proved to be the growth engine for Wipro among emerging markets. In the last three years, the Middle East region has grown 100 per cent in terms of revenues and we expect the momentum to continue.

We are looking at expanding our presence further in the region, as we see fresh opportunities coming up in Kuwait and Qatar,” Mr Anand Sankaran, the company Senior Vice President and Business Head, India, Middle East and Africa, said in a press release.

The company has 1,300 employees servicing the region and 100 plus customers, according to the release.

Wipro has two near shore development centres in the region at Dubai and Egypt to service customers in the Middle East.

In Saudi Arabia, the largest market in the region, it has a successful joint venture called Wipro Arabia Limited (WAL) between Wipro Ltd and Dal Al Riyadh for servicing clients in Saudi Arabia.

Wipro’s clients in the region include King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) where the company has implemented a turnkey ERP—Student Life Cycle Management solution — first of its kind in the industry, among others.
