A search technology developed by a Hyderabad-based start-up has attracted the attention of global digital media and search engine major Yahoo!
The ‘patent-pending’ technology developed by KeyPoint Technologies allows the users to search for things as they type in social media and other places. The search and discovery platform, titled Xploree, would pop up suggestions for places (like eateries), allowing the users to access that service directly.
“Users won’t need to leave the app they are engaged with, since they can search and browse for information without exiting the current app. Xploree with Yahoo! Search is available free on Google Play,” Sumit Goswami, Chief Executive Officer of KeyPoint Technologies has said in a statement.
“Our study has shown that 15 per cent of app interactions on mobile devices have been with a clear intent to search,” Goswami said.
“We've been expanding the footprint of Yahoo! Search in apps in the last few months.
“Users don’t need to leave Xploree to search the web,” Andre Vanier, Vice-President, Head of Yahoo! Search Mobile Syndication, said.
