Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan has picked up 1.1 lakh shares of brokerage house Stampede Capital Ltd for an estimated ₹1.21 crore.
As per the information available with the stock exchanges, Bachchan – often called Big B – has acquired 1.1 lakh shares of Stampede Capital through the open market route yesterday.
The shares were purchased at an average price of ₹109.92, valuing the transaction at ₹1.21 crore.
Shares of Stampede Capital have shot up more than 30 per cent within a month.
They were trading at ₹114.90 apiece in the afternoon trade on the BSE today, up 4.45 per cent from the previous close. During the intra-day trade, the stock had touched its 52-week high of ₹119.95.
Apart from Stampede Capital, Bachchan also holds stake in another listed company Just Dial. The Bollywood icon has nearly 0.09 per cent stake or 62,794 shares in Just Dial.
According to a disclosure by the company in its IPO prospectus, Bachchan was allotted 62,794 shares at a price of ₹10 each in 2011, valuing his original investment at just ₹6.27 lakh. His holdings are now valued at around ₹9 crore.
