Foreign institutional investors were net sellers for a whopping Rs 2,702 crore on Thursday according to data on BSE and NSE.
They have been net sellers in Indian equity for $1.4 billion so far this year, say SEBI data.
It is their relentless selling that has pushed the Sensex down 16 per cent this year.
“FIIs unwound long positions in the last two to three days,” said Mr Siddarth Bhamre, Head of Derivatives at Angel Broking.
