Indian benchmark indices, the Sensex and the Nifty, entered the session flat on Monday amid weak global cues.
The 30-share BSE index Sensex was up 23.24 points or 0.15 per cent at 15,988.40 and the 50-share NSE index Nifty was up 6.55 points or 0.14 per cent at 4,848.15.
Volume toppers were Tata Motors, Tata Steel, SBI, L&T and RIL. Among 30-share Sensex, ONGC, DLF, L&T, Tata Motors and RIL were the major gainers. GAIL, Bharti Airtel, Tata Power, Sterlite Industries and Jindal Steel were the major laggards.
Capital Goods (up 2.08 per cent), Realty (up 1.35 per cent), Oil & Gas (up 1.17 per cent) and Bankex (1.1 per cent) were the star performers.
According to international market reports, Asian and European stocks fell with every major benchmark gauge in the region retreating as economic data in the US and China stoked concern about global growth and European debt crisis situation was seen as escalating.
