Nearly 33 per cent of teas, worth ₹4.03 crore, of the 18.99 lakh kg on offer at Sale No: 29 of Coonoor Tea Trade Association auctions remained unsold despite marginal fall in average prices to ₹66.25 a kg from previous week’s ₹69.11. Darmona Estate Super Red Dust tea, auctioned by Paramount Tea marketing, topped the CTC market when Oswal Tea Traders bought it for ₹202 a kg. Homedale Estate’s Red Dust tea, auctioned by Global Tea Brokers, got ₹200. Kairbetta and Kodanad topped orthodox market fetching ₹241 each. Quotations held by brokers indicated bids ranging ₹40-44 a kg for plain leaf grades and ₹100-130 for brighter liquoring sorts. They ranged ₹41-50 for plain dusts and ₹110-175 for brighter liquoring dusts. There was some purchase for Pakistan in a wide range of ₹43-130 a kg.
