Arrivals and sales of turmeric registered an increase at the markets in Erode even as prices showed a mixed trend.

“Arrival increased to 3,500 bags and also the sale of turmeric was high with 70 per cent. As usual, medium quality turmeric arrived for sale,” said RKV Ravishankar, President, Erode Turmeric Merchants Association.

Finger turmeric lost ₹150 a quintal at the Erode Turmeric Merchants Association, but the root variety improved by ₹100. At the Regulated Marketing Committee and Erode Cooperative Marketing Society, finger turmeric price increased by ₹100 a quintal due to quality.

At the Erode Turmeric Merchants Association, finger turmeric was sold at ₹5,259-6,539 a quintal; root variety was sold at ₹4,814-5,869. Of the arrival of 2,167 bags, 695 were sold.

At the Regulated Marketing Committee, finger turmeric fetched ₹5,139-6,339; root variety was sold at ₹4,719-5,799. All the 278 bags placed for sale were sold.

At the Erode Cooperative Marketing Society, finger turmeric went for ₹5,650-6,391 a quintal and the root variety was sold at ₹5,499-5,865. All the 907 bags on offer were sold.
