About 87 per cent of the 10.61 lakh kg offered for Sale No: 4 of the Coonoor Tea Trade Association auctions was absorbed with the average price declining to ₹106.06 a kg from the previous week’s 10-month high of ₹107.32 a kg.
Darmona Estate’s Broken Orange Pekoe topped the Leaf Tea auction and the entire CTC market, fetching ₹246 a kg. Homedale Estate’s Broken Orange Pekoe, auctioned by Global Tea Brokers, followed at ₹216. In the CTC Dust tea auction, three grades of Homedale Estate, auctioned by Global tea Brokers, topped at ₹231, ₹216 and ₹205 respectively.
In the orthodox market, Kodanad topped at ₹266 a kg, followed by Chamraj ₹251 and Kairbetta ₹245.
