The rice market witnessed a steady trend. Prices of aromatic and non-basmati rice ruled firm with little variations at upper levels.

After witnessing an uptrend at the beginning of this week, rice prices are ruling firm as demand matched supplies, said Mr Praveen Kumar, a rice miller. Traders expect prices may increase marginally in the coming days, he added.

On Thursday, prices of Pusa 1121(steam) rice ruled at Rs 5,150-5,410 a quintal, Pusa-1121(sela) was quoted at Rs 4,150-4,355, and Pusa-1121(raw) was at Rs 5,100.

Prices of duplicate basmati quoted at Rs 3,700-4,050 a quintal. Prices of pure basmati (raw) ruled at Rs 7,400-7,500 a quintal.

For the brokens of Pusa 1121, Tibar was quoted at Rs 3,100-3,520, Dubar at Rs 2,400-2,640 and Mongra was at Rs 1,900-2,200.

Sharbati (steam) quoted at Rs 3,050-3,190 and Sharbati (raw) was at Rs 2,800-2,970 a quintal.

PR-11 (sela) ruled at Rs 2,050-2,150 and PR-11(raw) was quoted at Rs 2,050-2,205 a quintal. Permal (sela) quoted at Rs 1,700-1,930 a quintal and Permal (raw) traded at Rs 1,850-2,000 a quintal.

For the brokens of Sharbati variety, Tibar was quoted at Rs 2,350-2,450, Dubar was at 2,100-2,200 and Mongra was at Rs 1,400-1,725.
