Bajra and maize prices declined up to Rs 30 a quintal in the wholesale grains market on Wednesday owing to sluggish demand from consuming industries against adequate stocks.
Traders said sluggish demand from consuming industries against adequate stocks mainly led to the fall in wholesale bajra and maize prices.
In the national capital, bajra and maize remained weak at Rs 830-840 and Rs 1,150-1,160 from previous levels of Rs 835-860 and Rs 1,180-1,190 a quintal respectively.
Following are today’s quotations in Rs a quintal: Wheat MP (deshi) 1,550-1,800, Wheat dara (for mills) 1,170-1,175 Chakki atta (delivery) 1,180-1,185, atta Rajdhani (10 kg) 180, Shakti bhog (10 kg) 180, Roller flour mill 640-660 (50 kg), Maida 750-760 (50 kg) and Sooji 820-835 (50kg).
Basmati rice (Lal Quila) 9,500, Shri Lal Mahal 9,300, super basmati rice 9,000, Basmati common 5,200-5,300, rice Pusa-(1121) 4,100-4,750, Permal raw 1,850-1,900, Permal wand 2,000-2,100, Sela 2,150-2,200 and Rice IR-8 1,775-1,825, Bajra 830-840, Jowar yellow 900-980, white 1,725-1,850, Maize 1,150-1,160, Barley 1,200-1,250 and Rajasthan 1,080-1,090.
