Cardamom prices recovered by Rs 7.80 to Rs 1,109 per kg at the futures trade today as speculators created fresh positions, supported by a rise in spot demand against restricted supply.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in April gained Rs 7.80 or 0.71 per cent to Rs 1,109 per kg with a business turnover of a single lot. Similarly, May contract moved up by Rs 7.10 or 0.63 per cent to Rs 1,140 per kg with an open interest of just one lot.
Market analysts attributed the recovery in cardamom futures to pick-up in demand at the spot markets.
