Cardamom prices rose by Rs 16.10 to Rs 737 per kg in futures trade today as speculators created fresh positions amid a firming trend in the spot market on strong demand for the ongoing festive season.
In addition, restricted arrivals in the spot market from producing regions also influenced cardamom futures prices.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in September rose by Rs 16.10 or 2.23 per cent to Rs 737 per kg, with a business turnover of 527 lots.
Similarly, the spice for delivery in October moved up by Rs 15.80 or 2.06 per cent to Rs 781.20 per kg in 251 lots.
Analysts said a firming trend in the spot market driven by festive season demand mainly led to the rise in cardamom futures prices.
