Cardamom prices rose Rs 17.70 to Rs 984 per kg at the futures trade today on fall in supplies against increased buying by traders in the spot market. Restricted arrivals from the southern producing regions also supported the uptrend.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in July rose Rs 17.70 or 1.83 per cent to Rs 984 per kg with a business volume of 41 lots.
The spice for delivery in June traded higher by Rs 15.70 or 1.64 per cent at Rs 969.90 per kg with a trading volume of 175 lots. Similarly, May contract surged by Rs 8.40 or 0.91 per cent to Rs 922 per kg with an open interest of 94 lots.
Traders said rising demand at the spot market amid slowdown in arrivals from the southern regions mainly pushed up cardamom prices at the futures market.
