Cardamom prices rose Rs 9.90 to Rs 990 per kg at the futures trade today largely on the back of pick-up in demand at the spot market amid low stocks. Restricted arrivals from the producing regions also supported the rise in prices.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for May contract rose Rs 9.90 or 1.01 per cent to Rs 990 per kg with a trading volume of 126 lots and July contract increased by Rs 9.20 or 0.92 per cent to Rs 1,011.60 per kg with an open interest of 38 lots.
Similarly, June contract gained Rs 8.90 or 0.89 per cent to Rs 1,008.10 per kg with a business volume of 108 lots.
Traders said pick-up in demand at the spot market against restricted arrivals from the producing regions, mainly led to the rise in cardamom prices at the futures market.
