New Delhi, Feb. 17 Cardamom prices moved up by Rs 14.70 to Rs 1,387 a kg in futures trading today as speculators created fresh positions on the back of strong demand in the spot market against tight supply.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in April moved up by Rs 14.70 or 1.07 per cent to Rs 1,387 a kg, with a business turnover of one lot.
Similarly, the spice for delivery in March rose by Rs 13.80 or 1.04 per cent to Rs 1,336 a kg, with an open interest of one lot.
Market analysts attributed the rise in futures prices to strong demand in the spot market, driven by the ongoing marriage season. Also, tight arrivals from southern producing region influenced the trading sentiment, analysts added.
