Buoyed by good demand at the spot market, chana prices rose by Rs 22 to Rs 2,446 per quintal at the futures trade today as speculators increased their positions.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, chana for delivery in March gained by Rs 22 or 0.91 per cent to Rs 2,446 per quintal with an open interest of 56,540 lots. Similarly, April contract was up by Rs 16 or 0.63 per cent to Rs 2,554 per quintal with a business turnover of 85,420 lots.
Analysts said fresh buying by speculators triggered by good demand at the spot market mainly led to the rise in chana futures prices.
