Copper futures prices fell by Rs 3.40 to Rs 403.05 per kg today as speculators offloaded their positions due to a weak global trend.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, copper for delivery in June fell by Rs 3.40 or 0.84 per cent to Rs 403.05 per kg, with a business turnover of 1,730 lots.

Similarly, the metal for delivery in August lost Rs 3.30 or 0.80 per cent to Rs 408.65 per kg, with a trade volume of 211 lots.

Traders said fresh selling in tandem with weakening global trend mainly led to fall in copper futures prices.

Meanwhile, copper for three-month copper fell 0.6 per cent to $9,043.50 a tonne on the London Metal Exchange.
